Job description

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fraud Manager to join our company in Tanzania. As a Fraud Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to detect, prevent, and mitigate fraudulent activities across our platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to safeguard our customers' financial security and maintain the integrity of our services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Fraud Prevention Strategy:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive fraud prevention strategies, policies, and procedures tailored to the Tanzanian fintech landscape.
    • Stay updated on emerging fraud trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to adapt and enhance the fraud prevention approach.
  2. Detection and Monitoring:
    • Utilize advanced fraud detection tools, data analytics, and machine learning models to proactively identify suspicious activities and transactions.
    • Implement real-time monitoring systems to identify anomalies and irregular patterns indicative of fraudulent behavior.
  3. Investigation and Resolution:
    • Lead investigations into suspected fraud cases, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including law enforcement when necessary.
    • Gather evidence, compile reports, and provide recommendations for appropriate actions, such as freezing accounts or taking legal action against fraudulent entities.
  4. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
    • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential points of exploitation within the fintech ecosystem.
    • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks, ensuring a proactive approach to fraud prevention.
  5. Training and Awareness:
    • Develop and deliver fraud prevention training to internal teams, empowering them to identify red flags and take necessary actions.
    • Educate customers on safe practices to protect themselves from fraud and phishing attempts.
  6. Collaboration and Reporting:
    • Collaborate with customer support, compliance, legal, and IT teams to create a cohesive approach to fraud prevention.
    • Generate regular reports on fraud trends, cases, and mitigation efforts for senior management and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Fraud Examiner) are a plus.
  • Proven experience of 4+ years in fraud prevention and management, preferably within the fintech or financial services sector.
  • Familiarity with fraud detection technologies, data analysis tools, and machine learning for fraud prevention.
  • Solid understanding of local and international regulations related to fraud prevention and customer protection.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in transaction data.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex fraud-related information clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to lead investigations, manage external relationships with law enforcement agencies, and navigate legal procedures related to fraud cases.
