Job description

Position Overview: We are looking for a motivated and experienced Loan Manager to join our growing fintech company in Tanzania. As a Loan Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the end-to-end loan origination process, ensuring efficient operations, managing a team of loan officers, and contributing to the company's growth through effective lending strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Loan Origination and Processing:
    • Manage the loan application process, from customer inquiry to loan disbursal, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for borrowers.
    • Review and evaluate loan applications, conducting due diligence to assess creditworthiness, affordability, and adherence to lending policies.
    • Collaborate with underwriting and risk assessment teams to make informed loan decisions.
  2. Team Management and Leadership:
    • Lead and supervise a team of loan officers, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality customer interactions and loan processing.
    • Set performance targets, monitor team performance metrics, and implement training programs to enhance team capabilities.
  3. Lending Strategy Development:
    • Collaborate with senior management to develop lending strategies aligned with business objectives, market trends, and customer needs.
    • Identify opportunities for product innovation and enhancements to improve the company's competitive position.
  4. Customer Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with borrowers, addressing inquiries, providing loan updates, and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
    • Ensure excellent customer service throughout the loan lifecycle.
  5. Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with local lending regulations, data protection laws, and company policies to mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
    • Implement robust internal controls to prevent fraud, minimize credit risk, and maintain the integrity of the loan portfolio.
  6. Performance Analysis and Reporting:
    • Generate regular reports on loan portfolio performance, delinquency rates, repayment trends, and other relevant KPIs.
    • Conduct data analysis to identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in loan management, credit analysis, or lending operations within the financial services or fintech industry.
  • Strong understanding of lending principles, credit assessment, and risk management.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a proven track record of effectively managing and motivating teams.
  • Familiarity with Tanzanian lending regulations, consumer protection laws, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in using loan management software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills to interact with team members, borrowers, and senior management.
